I got off the train at Plymouth station and was greeted by my old friend, Hannah. She had the splendid idea to have lunch in what was a former Naval Yard that has now been converted to a host of restaurants, living spaces, and businesses. The sky was moody and the wind furious, so we popped into The Bakery, a converted warehouse of some sort, for a bread bowl of luscious tomato and veg soup and a hot coffee. The thick stone walls shielded us from the howling wind, and we caught up over the soup like no time at all had passed. A huge reason for me popping down to visit was the fantastic news that Hannah and her partner Will are expecting a baby next spring! I can't wait to be Auntie Lolly, and can't wait to meet the little he or she. Knitting needles at the ready!
We finished up our lunch, wrapped our cardies around ourselves and headed off to the ferry. Cornwall ho!
