Are you digging the cacti as much as I am? I know!
This past week, my oldest (not by age) friend invited me and her new husband (as in fresh, not most-recent) on a four-day road trip around the Southwest! We arrived in Phoenix and met up in the airport, where we quickly rented the most ridiculous soccer mom minivan and turbo'd up to Sedona! We laughed the entire way, and friend's new husband, whom I'd previously not yet met, was an absolute charmer. They're adorable together and make me sad that I'm here experiencing things like this alone, but HEY DON'T BE A DOWNER, THIS IS ABOUT A ROADTRIP, not how we sob into a pillow more often than not and eat too much cake to compensate.
Being from Ohio, they were really in awe of the red rocks and dry, desert scenery. However, seeing as I am secretly Coloradoan now, this was nothing new. We got red rocks in CO. We got desert. Ok, we don't have cactus (not where I live, at least), but the rest was pretty similar. I was trying not to be too blasé about the whole thing, and snapped a few quick pics of the landscape, which by all rights was lovely. I was in it for the Grand Canyon, though, which was next on our itinerary. I've dreamed of seeing it and the chance had finally arrived. Sedona, schmedona!
Subnote: the peach mini pie I bought from the coffee shop in Sedona was amazing. I have a spitty mouth right now just thinking about it. You're welcome for that image.
